The Baltimore Ravens kick wide receiver / wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas will choose not to participate in the 2020 season.
The team announced that Thomas had voluntarily opted for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reported that players who voluntarily choose not to participate in the season will receive a salary advance of $ 150,000 and their contract will cost. Thomas becomes the last player to unsubscribe, joining Kansas City Chiefs guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif. Duvernay-Tardif was the first player to unsubscribe, announcing his decision on Friday night.
Seattle Seahawks guard Chance Warmack, who had sat down last season before signing with Seattle, and Cowboys corneback Maurice Canady are also choosing not to volunteer for the 2020 season, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network. Canady appeared in 13 games with three starts last season while dividing the time between the Jets and the Ravens.
Pelissero also reports that Patriots fullback Danny Vitale is the fifth player in the league to voluntarily unsubscribe.
Joining the number of players to choose to leave is Washington defensive end Caleb Brantley, who is the first player to take the “high risk” option, according to the transaction cable. Brantley, who played in one game last season, will receive a $ 350,000 stipend without compensation and a cumulative / credited season with his contractual toll.
After 61 games for more than five seasons with the Chiefs, Thomas played eight games for the Ravens last season, primarily as a returner. He took 13 punt returns and 10 kick returns in eight regular-season tournaments with Baltimore. DAT played just three snapshots on offense in Baltimore on a carry.
Thomas re-signed in Baltimore this offseason with a one-year contract. That contract will affect the 2021 season.
