Lonez, whose legal name is Destar Peterson, is facing a count of attacking with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, concealed weapon in a vehicle, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
Lanez, 27, then argued with the 25-year-old woman while riding in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills on July 12, prosecutors said in a statement. She is accused of repeatedly shooting him in the leg when she got out of the car and injured him, the statement said.
Megan The Stallion, whose real name is Megan Jovan Ruth Pete, is referred to as “Megan P” in the criminal complaint.
CNN has contacted representatives of Lanez and Megan The Stallion to comment.
He spoke on social media about the “super scary” shooting and thanked his fans for their support but did not name the person he initially mentioned.
Lanez is due to be arrested on October 13. If convicted on both charges, Lanez could face up to 22 years and eight months in state prison.
