Ram TRX 2021 with Hellcat engine will arrive for Ford Raptor before the end of summer

First introduced as the Rebel TRX Concept nearly four years ago, the Ford F-150 Raptor’s Ram V8-powered competitor almost immediately disappeared from radar, and its continued development was only confirmed by email in the spring of 2018. Now, after numerous cryptic spies on this truck crypt, the TRX is set to make its public debut, which it will do on September 22.

Ram confirmed the late summer launch window in a tweet with the TRX kicking up dust in the open desert, its V8 cylinder screaming superiority over its V6-powered Ford. dam reference point. We hope that the TRX includes some variant of the Fiat-Chrysler Hellcat engine, which measures 6.2 liters of displacement: the original concept had a detuned version that generated 575 horsepower, while all other applications produce 707 horsepower.

Although the Hellcat supercharger’s whine isn’t really audible in the previous trailer, other accounts confirm the engine’s place under the Ram’s hood. After all, it makes sense, given the freedom with which FCA has designated the engine for its Dodge and even Jeep lineups. You’ll need something special to beat the Ford Raptor, whose power specs weigh 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. Currently, none of the Dodge or Ram naturally aspirated V8s reach that mark.

In the end, our idle speculation will kill just a few seconds between now and the TRX reveal later this season. And when it arrives, the TRX will still have to look over its shoulder for the next-generation Ford Raptor, which will undoubtedly improve along with the new F-150 on which it is based.
