Raiders agree to terms with defensive line Datone Jones

NFL Media reported that the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday agreed to terms with veteran defensive end Datone Jones.

Jones, 30, was a first-round pick by the Green Bay Packers from UCLA in 2013. He last played for the Dallas Cowboys in 2018, after joining the team in 2017. His position coach there was new Raiders’ defensive line coach Rod Marinelli.

Marinelli has a lot of influence on Jon Gruden’s staff. Jones is the third former Dallas defensive line to join the Raiders this offseason, joining Maliek Collins and Daniel Ross to join the Raiders.

Jones was in Jacksonville training camp last season, but did not make the team.

Jones is an in-depth addition, especially with starter Maxx Crosby-current on the reserve / COVID-19 list. It could come down to Jones and, third-year player, Arden Key for the final defensive end.
