San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanah hinted on Monday that both Rahim Mustart and center-back Ben Garland are on the injured reserve list running backwards.
Mostert suffered a left ankle sprain in Sunday night’s win over the Los Angeles Rams that, according to ESPN.com’s Nick Wagner, would “probably” land him on the IR.
In addition, Garland suffered the stress of a calf that would also send him to the injured list.
Mostart left the game against the Rams early in the third quarter after a 1-yard run, with him holding his left foot awkwardly under him.
Garland was left out at the end of the fourth quarter as he came in favor of his right foot after a play when Rames was blocking Aaron Donald’s defensive action. Hernice Grasso took center stage in Garland’s absence.
The injured reserve is missing just three weeks this season, but Shanah said his recovery is longer than Mostert.
“We’ll see how it progresses,” Shanah said.
Mustart leads the 49ers this season with 303 yards with 51 carry. The 49 people also have Tavin Coleman (knee) and Jeff Wilson Jr. (calf) also working with injuries on the condition. He could only leave Jericho Mannin Kinnon and Jemichal Hasty to handle the job against the New England Patriots this week.
