R. Kelly got a taste of jailhouse justice – a frustrated prisoner went on the attack and jumped Kelly into his cell … TMZ has learned.
Federal sources of law enforcement with immediate knowledge tell us that the incident recently went down in the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago where Kelly was sitting on his bed when another resident walked into his cell and slammed the stress out of Kelly.
Our sources say the resident went on the attack because he was angry about the detention facility being locked several times, largely by Kelly Protestants outside the jail.
We are told that the fight did not last long, and it is unclear if another resident or guards broke it up. Our sources say that Kelly was examined by a doctor, who determined that the singer was okay … no broken bones or serious injuries.
A spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons tells TMZ … it can not comment on the conditions of detention or medical status of an individual for privacy and security reasons. We’ve also reaching out to Kelly’s lawyer, Steven Greenberg, for comment, but he declined to discuss the incident, saying Kelly has been a model resident.
Back in 2019 when Kelly gave himself in at Cook County Jail, the facility’s 6,100 inmates had to sit tight if Kelly was on her way there.
