R. Kelly in Prison Attack by Fellow Inmate Says His Lawyer


A resident attacked R. Kelly in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, one of his attorneys confirmed to Vulture. “Kelly was in his cell on his bed when another resident came and started beating him,” said attorney Doug Anton. “The attack was stopped almost immediately and Kelly did not sustain any injuries. The other prisoner claimed to have attacked Kelly because he had been locked up at the institution a few times, and he was tired of being locked up. He apologized to Kelly. “TMZ says R. Kelly’s protesters have caused the facility to be shut down several times. The dispute is the latest incident in the downfall of the infamous R&B singer. Earlier this month, the FBI confirmed that its manager , Donnell Russell, summoned the gun threat that interrupted the premiere of the documentary. R. Kelly survives. Russell is also one of three men recently arrested for alleged witness imimation in the Kelly Federal Court case. (He is also facing charges in Illinois and Minnesota.) Kelly, who pleaded not guilty to alleged racketeering and sexual abuse charges, including knowingly exposing two people to herpes, is awaiting trial.
