Queen news: Monarch ‘will feel betrayed’ when Meghan Markle claims she was not protected | Real | News

Statements made by Meghan’s legal team in a series of recently released documents will likely have an impact on the Queen, said royal author Phil Dampier. He told the Daily Telegraph: “I think the Queen is going to be absolutely devastated by this.

“She will manage, but she will feel desperately betrayed.

“He broke the protocol of inviting Meghan to Christmas at Sandringham before they were married, and the couple ended up with a beautiful multi-million pound house in the middle of Windsor Great Park.

“Some may wonder: what more did they want?”

In December 2017, six months before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal wedding, Meghan was invited by the Queen to spend Christmas Day at Sandringham with the rest of the royal family.

This move marked a clear break in royal tradition, repeated once again on Christmas Day 2019, when the monarch invited Princess Beatrice’s fiancé, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, to Sandringham House.

The property in Windsor Great Park that Mr. Dampier was referring to is Frogmore Cottage, the home given to the Sussex by the monarch after his wedding.

Between the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019, the cottage underwent renovation work worth £ 2.3 million, paid for by taxpayers.

Meghan’s legal team submitted more than 30 pages of legal documents on June 30 following a request by the Post on Sunday, sued by the Duchess of Sussex in late 2019.

When asked to explain why the duchess was “vulnerable” at the time the newspaper printed her private letter to her father, Meghan’s legal team said, “The claimant had become the subject of a large number of articles. false and damaging by the UK tabloid media, specifically by the Respondent, which caused great emotional distress and damage to his mental health.

“Because her friends had never seen her in this state before, they were justly concerned about her well-being, specifically because she was pregnant, unprotected by the institution, and prohibited from defending herself.”

This response has been perceived by many as a blow to the Royal Family.

However, a source told The Times earlier this week that Meghan’s anger is targeting her former Kensington Palace-based communications team for failing to defend her from claims widely reported by the press.

While Kensington Palace, which represented Meghan and Harry, as well as Kate and Prince William between May 2018 and Spring 2019, followed the Queen’s mantra of ‘never complain, never explain,’ Meghan would have Preferred that his staff issue statements to reject the reports, the source suggested.

Expressing concerns, the source added: “No one thinks this is going to end well. For anyone.”

Meghan’s lawyers also claimed that the Royal Wedding gave UK tourism a boost of £ 1bn.

Meghan is accusing Associated Newspapers, the publication of Mail on Sunday, Daily Mail and MailOnline, of misuse of private information, copyright infringement and breach of the Data Protection Act.

The company, which posted excerpts from a private letter by Meghan to her estranged father Thomas Markle Snr in Mail On Sunday, denies the allegations.
