Quality control restaurants temporarily close due to COVID-19 concerns

QUAD CITIES, Iowa (KWQC) – As COVID-19 cases increase in Quad Cities, some companies are temporarily closing because employees test positive for COVID-19. The companies turned to social media to notify customers why they are temporarily closing and the steps they are taking during the closing.

Quad Cities health officials are seeing an increase in cases and a change in average age.

“There is an important change in the epidemiology of what we are seeing. In April and May, the average age of our symptomatic cases approached 60, 59 years during April and May. The average since last week is indeed 29. These are teens and young adults who are getting infected now, ”said Dr. Louis Katz, Medical Director of the Scott County Health Department.

“This is not a second wave. This is our inability to control the first wave … three-quarters of these patients are asymptomatic, so we know that these cases we are counting represent infections that occurred in the last 7 to 14 days, “he said.

Amy Thoreson, deputy director of the Scott County Health Department, said the impact of the increase is hard not to notice.

“It is quite difficult to navigate social media or check email without seeing a message from a store, restaurant, bar, gym reporting cases and their closure and cleanup plans,” he said.

Many companies posted on social media to inform the community about their temporary closings. Here is a list of some of them. More can be added.
