Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that the U.S. Hunter Biden sees nothing criminal in his past business relations with Ukraine or Russia, marking his disagreement with any of Donald Trump’s attack lines in the presidential election.
Putin was responding to remarks made by Trump during a televised debate with Democratic challenger Joe Biden ahead of the November 3 election.
Trump, who is behind in opinion polls, has used these discussions to accuse Biden and his son Hunter of engaging in unethical practices in Ukraine. No evidence has been examined to substantiate the allegations, and Biden has called them false and defamatory.
Putin, who has praised Trump in the past, said he wanted better relations with Moscow, adding that Russia would work with any US leader, noting that Biden had been called “sharp-Russian anti-Russian rhetoric.”
Putin appeared less friendly to Trump in a commentary aired on Russian state TV on Sunday. It could be seen by some analysts as an attempt to favor Biden Camp, in which he made it clear that it took time to crack down, which he called Trump’s false allegations about Bidens.
“Yes, he (Hunter Biden) had a business in Ukraine that maybe he still has a business, I don’t know. He doesn’t care about us. He cares about Americans and Ukrainians.”

Putin also reacted to the venerable irritation when asked about Putin’s relationship with the former mayor of Moscow and his remarks about the alleged payment made to Hunter Biden by the former mayor’s widow. Putin said he knew nothing about the existence of any business relationship between Hunter and the woman. J Biden says the allegation about his son is not true.
U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded that Russia used the 2016 U.S. intelligence campaign to sway Trump’s rivalry. Moscow has denied the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating “Similar, baseless allegations concerning Russia’s intelligence have been made more than once. Russia has also denied allegations by US intelligence agencies that it tried to interfere in this year’s elections.
