German doctors tried to determine what caused Alexei Navalny to suddenly become ill and enter a coma, hours after the Kremlin critic was evacuated to Berlin.
In a statement apparently contradicting Russian doctors who said he was too ill and unstable to leave, the activist group that called for the evacuation of Mr. Navalny organized, Saturday, that the condition of Mr. Navalny was stable, based on the evaluation of doctors on the medevac aircraft.
Mr Navalny spent almost 48 hours in a hospital in the Siberian city of Omsk, where he was admitted after crashing into Moscow on Thursday and entering a coma. Supporters of Mr Navalny say he drank tea at the airport before the flight, believing he was poisoned.
Opposition politicians say doctors in Omsk have refused to see his wife, Yulia Navalnaya. She said she believed doctors were slowing down to make sure any traces of toxins were harder to find.
Doctors at the hospital in Berlin did not immediately disclose details about Mr Navalny’s condition.
