Los Angeles County has broken its own record for most cases recorded in a single day since the mid-July summer, with COVID-19’s CO, with 7,880 new cases reported.
The Los Angeles Department of Public Health on Saturday confirmed thousands of new coronavirus cases, marking new, terrible highs for the county. A recent report by health officials also showed 20 new deaths caused by COVID-19. The 966 people hospitalized Saturday admitted to COVID-19, the highest county hospitalization rate in nearly two months.
With LA County entering the darkest hours of COVID-19 cases and death toll every day, health officials are urging residents to take the necessary precautions this holiday season. With facial inks, outdoor gatherings and minimal socialization, residents can significantly reduce their risk of COVID-19 transmission by following official recommendations.
In addition to warning residents about the dangers to family gatherings and holidays, Public Health notes that youth continue to increase community transmission in the county. Of the 7,780 new cases, 74% are under the age of 50.
To date, Los Angeles authorities have detected 336,549 positive cases of COVID-19 in all areas of LA County, with a total of 7,266 deaths. There have been at least 1,019,000 positive cases and 18,218 deaths since the epidemic began in California.
Los Angeles is at the most restrictive “purple” level of Governor Gavin News’ plans to reopen. Earlier in the week, Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer noted that LA County could move into the less-restricted Tier 2 before four weeks from now.
