PSAC to announce suspension of fall sports season – reports

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference will not play fall sports in 2020 due to coronavirus concerns, a source from one of the conference’s soccer programs told PennLive Tuesday night.

An announcement is expected Wednesday morning.

The source said his team was notified of the move at a meeting Tuesday night, and that the PSAC hopes to play soccer in the spring.

The Reading Eagle reported The conference will suspend all fall sports until December 31, and several members of the media reported that the conference would announce that it would also suspend fall sports. The conference school presidents reportedly met Tuesday to vote on what they would do next season.

If the conference does, in fact, announce that it has suspended fall sports until the end of the season, and attempts to run a spring soccer campaign, it would follow Leagues Ivy and Patriot, who also made similar moves recently.

The PSAC is comprised of 18 schools: West Chester, Kutztown, Bloomsburg, Shippensburg, Millersville, Lock Haven, East Stroudsburg, Slippery Rock, IUP, Cal U, Edinboro, Merychurst, Clarion, Gannon, Seton Hill, Mansfield, Shepherd, and Pitt Johnstown .
