Samsung has apparently stopped bundling its flagship phones with the popular AKG wireless earbuds in North America, and in case you were wondering, this is true for the new Galaxy Note 20 series. You will get the complementary AKG USB-C earbuds when buying one of the Galaxy Note 20 models in Europe, but they are no longer included in the retail box for customers in the US. Fortunately, not everything is lost and customers in the US can get their earbuds if they know how to ask them.
According to Samsung USA, the company has decided to offer wireless headphones in its flagship retail boxes in North America as more customers are choosing to use Bluetooth solutions. Samsung claims that the use of wireless headphones […] is gradually rejected, and so the accessory has been removed from the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra cases. It is worth noting that Samsung’s official statement does not directly mention the Galaxy Note 20 series, but rather advances its entire flagship portfolio.
Ask and you will receive, probably for free
The good news for buyers of Galaxy Note 20 in the US is that they can get the AKG USB-C wired earbuds along with their flagship, as long as they contact customer care and ask for it. In Samsung’s own words, for those consumers who prefer the USB-C wireless headphones, our customer care team can offer them on request.
It’s not entirely clear how a customer would deal with getting the USB-C wire headphones when ordering the Galaxy Note 20 online, but getting in touch with customer care would be the first step. Samsung does not specify this either, but we assume that the USB-C wire headphones will be provided free of charge to customers who request it.
So there you have it. If you buy a Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra from Samsung USA, do not forget to ask your earbuds if you are not a fan of wireless solutions. Whether or not Samsung will stop offering the AKG USB-C earbuds in total remains to be seen with future flagships.
