PS4 adds long awaited PSN feature

The PS4 has added a long awaited PSN feature. The PS5 is a few months away, and thus increasingly the focus of Sony. However, PlayStation makers have confirmed on several occasions that the PS4 will not be coming anywhere soon. Sony has promised to support the PS4 alongside the PS5, at least for several years. And nothing is more emblematic of this support than that PSN gets a feature that players have been asking for since its launch in 2013.

More specifically, Sony has updated the PS4 and PSN to allow users to directly purchase games they have in their library via PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now. Why did PlayStation players beg for this feature? Well, there are several reasons, but the biggest one is about game sales.

If you have a game via PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now you do not really have it. You rent. Once your subscription to both expires, the game will disappear. That said, sometimes the PlayStation Store will give a game a discount at an absurdly low price. This used to be not very common because sales points in the PlayStation Store were rare and not huge, but in recent years Sony PlayStation Stores have evolved to the point that they even compete the huge Steam sales.

In short, in the past, if you wanted a game discounted at $ 4, you could not if you had it via PS Plus or PlayStation Now. And this is a problem, because it means you can not capitalize on the sale and the opportunity to own the game. This is fine if you keep your subscriptions, but if you do not, it’s a missed opportunity to save money.

Sony has also added the option to purchase a free PlayStation Plus game directly, so be careful not to accidentally end up buying a game that you can download for free.
