Prosecutors are seeking jail time for Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli

Federal prosecutors claimed Monday that Lori Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, are earning jail time for cheating to get their daughters into the University of Southern California.

In a sentencing note, the U.S. Attorney’s Office urged the judge to abide by the terms of a plea agreement signed in May and sentenced Giannulli to five months and Loughlin to two months.

The couple will be sentenced Friday. Each pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and postal fraud, to the point that they hired consultant William “Rick” Singer and paid $ 500,000 to allow their daughters to go to school as false crew recruits.

The verdict claimed that the agreed upon sentences match those given to other suspects in the sprawling case, and reflect the seriousness of the crime.

“The crime Giannulli and Loughlin committed was serious,” prosecutors said. ‘Over the course of two years, they twice participated in Singer’s fraudulent scheme. They both involved their daughters in the fraud, allowing them to engage in staged photos for use in fake athletic profiles and instructing one daughter how to hide the scheme from her high school counselor. ”

Prosecutors also claimed that Giannulli deserved a tougher sentence than Loughlin because he played the active role in the fraud, “brazenly reading” to a school counselor about his daughter’s athletic abilities to cover the schedule.

“Loughlin took a less active role, but was nevertheless completely complicated, and Singer certainly put in a second time for her younger daughter, coaching her daughter not to say ‘too much’ against the legitimate college adviser of her high school. fraud, ”the prosecutors wrote.
