This offseason has been a rollercoaster for the Texas football program.

Unfortunately, Sunday seems to be one of the empty days. Anwar Richardson of Orange Bloods officially confirmed the news that newbie wide receiver Troy Omeire has torn his ACL.

Omeire has been a pleasant surprise. There has been a non-stop buzz surrounding him at fall camp over the past week, as he was among the entire position group. His tall, physical frame looks the part and he came ready to compete for an important role in this crime.

Omeire showed several acrobatic catches through practice and quickly caught the eyes of the coaching staff. He was expected to immediately contribute to the Longhorns as a true newcomer.

He was a four-star prospect from the 2020 recruiting class and a top 40 player in the state of Texas, according to 247Sports Composite.

It is unclear whether it was at this point a part or a complete tear of the ACL. Omeire suffered the injury during Texas’ first inspection and is expected to miss the entire season.

After what we have seen through his short time wearing the burning orange, his comeback will be bigger than this pitch.
