Princess Beatriz finally has her happily ever after.
British royalty, 31, secretly married Italian property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Friday, but it has been a bumpy road for the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
Initially, it seemed that Beatrice, who is ninth in the throne line, would marry Uber American executive Dave Clark. The couple dated for ten years and Beatrice’s parents were said to adore Clark, who was a regular fixture at royal family events and on special occasions. The couple even ran the London marathon together in 2010.
They parted ways in 2017, when, according to The Daily Beast, Beatrice gave her boyfriend an ultimatum to propose or leave and he opted for the latter.
Just two months after their breakup, Clark met American advertising executive Lynn Anderson. The two were married at a glamorous resort in Puglia, Italy in 2018.
Clark’s quick rebound was not the first time Beatrice’s partners made headlines, her first boyfriend was also the source of much controversy.
Paolo Liuzzo, her first publicly known boyfriend, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in 2002 for the death of a fellow student during a drunken fight in the United States.
Liuzzo and Beatrice met through mutual friends and began dating in 2005 when he was 17, and they separated a year later when reports of the involuntary manslaughter charges became known.
The murder charge was eventually reduced to assault and Liuzzo served a community sentence.
In 2009, Liuzzo was fined for a number of crimes, including possession of cocaine while on vacation in Queensland, Australia.
Beatrice and Mozzi, 37, have been friends with the family for a long time, but they started dating in October 2018 and got engaged the following September. They were due to get married in a brilliant ceremony this May, but it was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
The flamed-haired real has also become a stepmother. Mozzi has a son, Christopher, with her former partner Dara Huang.
