Prince William and Kate Middleton have adopted a new rule to discipline their children when they are naughty

There is no rulebook that sets out exactly how to be the perfect parent. It is a learning experience for everyone, including royalty. Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge have stated over the years that they are practical parents and, like most people, can sometimes struggle with the challenges of parenting.

Today, the couple have three little ones at home and have established a set of rules for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to follow. And recently, they have adopted a new rule for when their children misbehave.

Be open and honest about your feelings.

One of the oldest rules that William and Kate have for their children is that they are open and honest with their feelings. While being a real kid certainly has its advantages, things won’t always be easy as they live their lives in full view of the public. Their parents know this and encourage them to talk about how they feel.

Before Louis was born, William spoke to CALMzine about how he and his wife had already taught their older children to have an open dialogue with them.

“Catherine and I are clear that we want both George and Charlotte to grow up feeling able to talk about their emotions and feelings,” said the prince.

Limited screen time, no TV before tea

Cambridges are very strict about when and how much television young princes and princesses watch. According to Fabulous Digital, the family stayed at Amner Hall in Norfolk during the lockdown and got into the routine of not watching television until after the kids had their tea.

Royal reporter Katie Nicholl also spoke about the rules of television time.

“Kate is usually very strict with screen time and keeps it to a minimum,” Nicholl told OK Magazine, adding that the duchess prefers more outdoor activities. “They have swings, swings and a pond, and each of the children is in charge of their own patch in the garden.”

Another part of Will and Kate’s routine is making sure George, Charlotte, and Louis go to bed at the same time each night. That time is 7 pm

‘Chat couch’ instead of timeout

The most recent rule that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have implemented for their children when they act is a “chat couch.” They use this instead of a timeout or mischievous move as it’s known in the UK.

“There is no ‘naughty step’ but there is a ‘chat couch,'” said a real source. “The naughty boy is removed from the scene of the [argument] or interruption and spoke calmly with Kate or William. Things are explained and the consequences are summarized and they never yell at them. ”

The informant added: “The screaming is absolutely ‘off limits’ for children and any hint of screaming between them is resolved by elimination.”
