MADISON (WKOW) – Dane County Boys & Girls Club President Michael Johnson said he spoke to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, on Saturday.
According to a Tweet posted by Johnson, “Meghan has agreed to speak to girls in Wisconsin.”
Johnson also said Meghan Markle’s team reached out to him, who wanted to speak to Althea Bernstein, the 18-year-old who was attacked and set on fire with lighter fluid last Wednesday.
Johnson told 27 News that the details of the meeting are still being discussed, but the event will likely happen virtually. He hopes it will be a city hall-style event that reaches out to young people in Wisconsin and the United States, who are dealing with a difficult time right now.
“This has been really emotional and with all the protests and I think now is a good opportunity for people to listen to people like them, but also for our young people to get involved and hear their message, so I am so grateful I extended the invitation and they accepted immediately. “
He says that Markle and Prince Harry talked about the importance of making sure young people’s voices are heard.
