The new iPhone 12 will be waiting for plenty of new features this fall – from 5G connectivity and a powerful new A14 Bionic chip to enhanced cameras. And a higher price tag will probably be waiting for you too.
A new report from analysts added TrendForce this week about the state of the smartphone market includes predictions on prices of iPhone 12. The bad news is that this forecast calls on the iPhone 12 models to cost between $ 50 and $ 100 more than their iPhone 11 counterparts.
Prices of iPhone 12 (projected)
Great | Price | |
iPhone 12 | 5.4 inches | $ 699 – $ 749 |
iPhone 12 Max | 6.1 inches | $ 799 – $ 849 |
iPhone 12 Pro | 6.1 inches | $ 1,049 – $ 1,049 |
iPhone 12 Pro Max | 6.7 inches | $ 1,149 – $ 1,199 |

Specifically, TrendForce believes that new iPhone prices can start between $ 699 to $ 749 for the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 and $ 799 to $ 849 for the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max. That compares to $ 699 for the iPhone 11.
For the iPhone 12 Pro, TrendForce lists a possible starting price from $ 1,049 to $ 1,099, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max can start between $ 1,149 and $ 1,199. The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max cost $ 999 and $ 1,099, respectively.
At first glance, it seems likely that iPhone prices will go up with the release of iPhone 12. All four new models are set for 5G modems, and the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max are expected to have OLED panels instead of the LCD screen that illuminates the iPhone 11.. In either case, Apple would add expensive components to its phones. ,
And yet, the TrendForce report is one of the rare to predict higher prices for the iPhone 12. Earlier this summer, a separate report called for the 5.4-inch model of the iPhone 12 can cost $ 50 more than iPhone 11, but for the most part, the rumor mill suggests that Apple is keeping the line on iPhone prices with this round of updates.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the more well-known Apple watchers, has reported that Apple seeks to keep costs limited on its phones. Most recently, Kuo has reported that Apple has decided on a new battery design that costs less than the one used in previous iPhones.
No EarPods or charger for you
Like one of its upcoming products, Apple has not given any indication on its pricing plans for iPhone 12. But one thing that seems like a safe bet prior to the debut of the iPhone 12 is that it will likely come with a much more barebones box than normal.
The TrendForce report echoes earlier rumors that Apple will not cover it EarPods as a charger with this year’s iPhones. Consumers may find that they have to pay extra money to complete their phone purchase if they do not already have that tool.
We could find out exactly what we’ll pay for the iPhone 12 next month, when Apple holds its iPhone 12 launch event in September, as some people expect. However, the phones themselves are unlikely to ship until October.
