President Trump claims that “God” was removed from the Pledge of Allegiance at the DNC. Is that true?

President Trump claimed that Democrats during the Democratic National Convention left the word “God” out of the recitation of the Promise of Elegance.

“The Democrats took the word GOD out of the duty of trust in the Democratic National Convention,” he said on Saturday. “At first I thought they made a mistake, but it was not. It was done on purpose. Remember Evangelical Christians, and ALL, this is where they come from – it’s done. Vote Nov 3!”

Trump was soon condemned for his statement after videos of recitations of the planned convention went viral on social media. During each of the four nights of the convention, the Pledge of Allegiance was fully mentioned, including the word “God.”

However, the main convention events were not the only meetings held at the DNC this week. Smaller meetings were held for individual caucuses. In at least two instances, the Pledge of Allegiance was presented at a caucus meeting without the word “God.” These included the Muslim Caucus Assembly and the LGBTQ Caucus Assembly.

Democrats closed their virtual convention on Thursday when former Vice President Joe Biden accepted his party’s nomination. Republicans will host their own virtual convention this coming week.
