There are no public events for President Donald Trump today until tonight. That’s when he and the First Lady will host a reception “celebrating the White House Rose Garden.”
Why celebrate something that has been around for centuries? The Rose Garden has been renovated. Gone are the crab trees that were part of the original design. Also away is the location of the fictitious Obama “beer-top.” It has been replaced by new limestone pavers and steps, and will eventually host an art installation.
The lack of public office for the president meant there was enough time for tweeting. The Commander-in-Tweet was active, lamenting the ongoing protests in Portland, post-in-balloting, the recently concluded Democratic convention (where, he noted, they changed the Pledge of Allegiance), and the FDA decision on its emergency use to include authorization of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine for treatment of COVID-19.
