Katy Perry asked her fans on Instagram on Thursday, “Do you guys want to see something gross?”
And she certainly delivered.
After posing the question, the singer and future mother of “Teenage Dream” showed a video in her Instagram Stories with an extreme close-up of her belly, with a completely distended navel. That’s right: she’s advanced enough in pregnancy that her belly button has been turned inside out,
It is not something that happens to all pregnant women, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
“Sometimes a growing baby in the womb can put so much pressure on a woman’s abdominal wall that her navel is normally an ‘innie’ that becomes an ‘outie,'” she explained. “It usually occurs in the second or third trimester of pregnancy, most commonly around 26 weeks.”
Perry, 35, announced her pregnancy with her fiancé Orlando Bloom, 43, in the “Never Worn White” music video in March, but has not released her due date. This will be Perry’s first child; Bloom has a son, Flynn, 9, with his ex Miranda Kerr.
But wait! Thursday’s Perry video was not just about the “gross.” After showing her belly, she said, “But do you want to see something beautiful?” and then hit her in the face. And yes, she looks great with full makeup and a black and white outfit with matching pins.
“That is what you get,” he added. “It is the reward for looking at my navel.”
