The beta version of iOS 14 comes with no shortage of changes and high-profile features, but there are also quite a few hidden elements that help form our list of the main features of iOS 14.
Today, iOS 14 doesn’t need to be loaded with tons of standout features like the compact calling interface, App Library, and widgets, but there are plenty of hidden iOS 14 features that deserve recognition, too. In this hands-on video tutorial, we’ll explore 10 of our favorite features for sleeping with iOS 14.
More powerful marking tool
The marking tool in iOS 14 gets quite a few improvements that make it feel more like the color tool sets available in macOS. In particular, the marking utility gains a new eyedropper tool to sample the color of anything displayed on the screen.
The Eyedropper tool, combined with the new ability to save favorite colors, are great new additions to the iOS 14 marking tool. Both can help speed up workflows and enhance creative capabilities in various applications.
But those aren’t the only new additions to marking in iOS 14. There are also new spectrum and slider color selection tabs that add even more fine-grained color capabilities to iOS marking.

A new rollback feature located in the accessibility settings of iOS 14 caused a furor on the first day of the iOS 14 beta implementation for developers. The back touch feature works as it sounds and allows you to perform actions on your iPhone by simply tapping the back of your iPhone two or three times.
The rear touch accessibility shortcut joins a number of other shortcuts available on iOS that can perform all kinds of functions. And with the availability of more powerful shortcuts and automation found in the stock shortcut app, you can do awesome things like turn on a light or close the door by double tapping the back of your iPhone.

The backstroke has not been honed in beta versions until now as it is still a bit too responsive resulting in actions being taken when not intended. But this is a beta period, and hopefully Apple will be able to dampen the recoil sensitivity in later versions.
Reflected Selfies
If you venture into the camera app settings in iOS 14, you will find a new option that allows you to mirror the selfies photos taken with the front camera. This option, which does exactly what it says on the tin, mirrors the front camera preview to get a final result of what you see is what you get.
Quick note styles
The Notes application is a reliable note-taking and word-processing tool that I use regularly. Over the years, the app has acquired more formatting features that help make notes easier to design and read, and this latest beta is no exception to that trend. In iOS 14 you can now long-press the Format button to reveal a new quick style pop-up menu to quickly apply formats to your text.
Operator lock information
Want an alternative way to show a prospective buyer that your iPhone is unlocked? A new operator lock information panel in Settings → General → About makes it easy to see the status of your iPhone’s operator relationship.
Private wifi address
iOS 14 introduces many new privacy and security enhancements, such as the ability to provide apps with an approximate location instead of an exact location. But one of the smallest features under the radar is the new ability to enable private Wi-Fi connections that won’t transmit your device’s actual MAC address. This can help reduce tracking of your iPhone and related activity while connected to Wi-Fi.
Spotlight quick launcher
Spotlight gains Mac’s ability to quickly launch websites and apps on iOS 14. Just launch Spotlight, type a few characters from your favorite app or website, and use the Go button in the resulting search result via the software keyboard.
Improved back button
If you are deep in the Settings app, you are likely to find the new improved iOS 14 back button useful. Just press and hold the Back button in the upper left corner, and you will be presented with a complete hierarchy of the Settings in relation to your specific location.
Limit access to the photo library
Although it could use a bit of refinement, the ability to select photos to be shared with third-party apps, rather than providing full, unadulterated access to your entire photo library, is a much-needed privacy enhancement included in iOS 14. Only You wished it allowed you to select entire folders instead of having to select individual photos. Hopefully, that refinement will be added in the next beta releases.
Website translation
Website translation is a feature that Safari on all major Apple platforms has been missing until this year. As with iPadOS 14 and macOS Big Sur, Safari now includes the ability to natively translate foreign language websites in iOS 14. In earlier versions of iOS, you would need to use a Safari extension or a third-party browser to translate pages. Web.
