In the initial two versions, the new home screen functionality for widgets, app library, and page editing was not very obvious. To help with discoverability, Apple has added three new explanatory pop-ups to the mix to help new users get started.

Although these explainers may be modified in some way before the final version of iOS 14, I hope that they will become permanent pieces of the iOS 14 startup experience. The Music app has also been updated in iOS 14 beta 3. Not only do we get a new Music app icon that brings back memories from iOS 7, but there’s also a new Music app widget background to match. Plus, there are new glyphs in the Music Library menu and a smarter resume feature to help get music playing back to where you left off.

Other quality-of-life improvements include the ability to remove saved colors in iOS 14’s new dial interface, along with an easier method of dragging apps out of the App Library list to the home screen.
