Power restored to declining roles left thousands without power in Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) – Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) says it has restored power to the people affected by Friday night’s outages.

Earlier Friday, PG&E was directed by California Independent System Operator (ISO) to initiate rotating outages throughout the state.

The Phase 3 emergency declaration was named after extreme heat raised the demand for electricity in California, causing the ISO to dip into its corporate reserves for supply to meet demand.

PG&E says because of the emergency response, it is unable to notify customers in advance of the rotating power outage, which affects customers in the following counties: El Dorado, Marin, Napa, San Mateo and Sonoma.
