Entergy shares the following tip to help customers reduce electricity consumption.
- Raise the central climate thermostat to 78 degrees. Window units need to be customized accordingly.
- Use energy-efficient electric ceiling fans and portable fans to circulate air and help residents feel cooler.
- Close window blinds, curtains and drapes to reduce heating in the house due to direct sunlight.
- Delay whitewashing of clothes, washing, bathing, etc. until later in the evening or early morning. These activities produce moisture and increase the humidity in the house, making the air conditioner work harder.
- Wash clothes with cold water, cook food in the lowest possible setting, and resist the temptation to open the oven door when baking.
