Together in life and death: the story of Rosa and Casimiro

Rosa Dantas, 89, and Casimiro Dias, 91, never parted ways. Even at the moment of death. Born in Anais, Ponte de Lima, they were home users of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in the municipality of Limiano, for approximately two and a half years. Both fell ill with covid-19, entered the Viana do Castelo hospital, with a difference of four days, and ended up dying the same day in a short time. Whoever contacted them closely at home describes them as a “special couple that fate did not want to separate.”

“You came here already bedridden and you were still very active. You never left your husband. You practically didn’t leave your room, because you didn’t want to leave him alone. To be out of the room for as long as possible,” the technical director told JN yesterday. Carla Vieira reports that “you had gone to the hospital with covid-19 on the 5th and you went on the 9th. However, on Thursday one died and after an hour, two at the most, the other died.”

For that person, there is no doubt that “the strong connection” that Rosa and Casimiro had dictated the death of both of them almost simultaneously. “It makes sense. I think fate did not want to separate them in any way. If there is any divine force, it was she who was responsible for this situation. Their connection was so strong that when one left, the other ended.” . Carla Vieira will never forget a “really special” couple.

This Friday the funeral of the two old men took place.

In the house of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, three users with covid-19 have died and two are hospitalized. 60 positives are isolated in the institution’s facilities. The only two that were not infected were installed in a hotel floor in the town of Ponte de Lima.

In a second residence of the same institution, in the parish of Refóios, also in Ponte de Lima, the 34 users accused negatives in the tests carried out this Friday.
