Dressed in purple and with a portrait of her husband by her side, Queen Elizabeth II went to the countryside, in the traditional Christmas message, describing the sadness and anguish she feels when seeing so many families separated by Covid-19.
The monarch praises the way individuals and communities across the UK and the British Commonwealth “exceeded the challenges of the year magnificently” and how she was “moved by that peaceful and untamed spirit.
To give hope to the country, Elizabeth II said: “Even in the darkest nights, there is hope for the new dawn.”
“For many, this time of year will be sad.
Some mourn the loss of loved ones and others of friends and family who are not there for safety, when all they really want for Christmas is a simple hug or handshake. If you are among them, you are not alone and let me assure you of my thoughts and prayers, ”said the Queen of the United Kingdom.
The annual message was filmed in the Green Room of Windsor Castle, where the 94-year-old monarch celebrates Christmas with the Duke of Edinburgh.
