A few days after the mysterious “monolith” in the Utah desert disappeared without a trace, a very similar structure was found on top of a mountain on the central coast of California, also in the United States.
A local newspaper in the small town of Atascadero reports that a metal “monolith” was unexpectedly found at the top of Pine Mountain last Wednesday. The structure has already sparked the interest of the local population, with dozens of people walking to the site to see the structure and share photos with them on social media.
Like the Utah “monolith”, the Pine “monolith” appears to be made of stainless steel and is a triangular prism about 10 feet high, the side panels of which are welded and riveted, according to “The Atascadero News.” .
However, Pine’s twin structure, about 18 inches wide, appears to be a few inches narrower than the one found in the red desert. It’s also not embedded in the ground like Utah’s, and it apparently could be pushed away with a strong push, according to that newspaper.
The “monolith” mysteriously found in Utah’s red rock desert sparked the world’s imagination after it was discovered on November 18 by a team from the Division of Wildlife Resources, who flew over the site by helicopter to account for the wild sheep population of the region.
Although the location was not officially revealed, a Reddit user tracked the route of that flight until it disappeared from the radar (an indication that it should have landed) and released the coordinates of the monolith on that social network, after confirming the information on Google Earth.
The most attentive and curious did not miss the opportunity, and several who announced on Instagram that they had reached the metal object.
However, during the night of last Friday he was removed by unknown persons, according to the Department of Land Management in a message on the social network Facebook.
What also remains to be discovered is its origin. Several theories have emerged in recent days on social networks, from the most unusual, suggesting its installation by aliens or by a fan of the Stanley Kubrick movie “2001: Space Odyssey”, to its creation by some minimalist artist, such as late John McCracken. For now, however, the theory prevails that it will be an art installation not yet claimed.
However, another similar structure will also have appeared in the mountains of Romania, at Piatra Neamt, but of dubious quality.
