Nuno Mendes, a young left-back from Sporting, made his debut with the National Team on Wednesday when he started against Azerbaijan, in a match that counts for the qualifying phase for the 2022 World Cup.
At the end of the match, Nuno Mendes did not hide his satisfaction and pride in wearing the corner jersey. “Very good feelings, playing with elite players. I am super satisfied. I am proud to be here,” said the left-back, assuming he had received advice from captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Everyone gave me advice before the game. The captain [Cristiano Ronaldo] what’s more. This is very important to me, it helped me and I think it showed on the pitch. “
