Benfica informed the Securities Market Commission (CMVM) of the transfer of central defender Rúben Dias to Manchester City. The 23-year-old Portuguese international leaves Luz, where he has been since he was 11, in exchange for 68 million euros, which could reach 71.6 million euros thanks to the achievement of the player’s goals in the English runner-up.

Rúben Dias debuted with the eagles’ main jersey on September 16, 2017, in a match against Boavista, in Bessa. Since then, he has become an indispensable part of the starting eleven and leaves Benfica after 137 games and 12 goals, having won a Championship and a Super Cup.

«Sport Lisboa e Benfica – Futebol, SAD informs, in the terms and for the purposes of the provisions of article 248-A of the Portuguese Securities Code, that it has reached an agreement with Manchester City for the transfer of all rights from the player Rúben Dias, for € 68,000,000 (sixty-eight million euros), plus an additional amount of € 3,600,000 (three million six hundred thousand euros), depending on the achievement of goals related to Manchester’s sporting performance City.

It is also reported that said agreement depends on the signing of the player’s sports employment contract with Manchester City.
