Italy continues to stabilize with 323 new deaths and 2,086 new cases

The numbers of the covid-19 pandemic in Italy continue to stabilize, with 2,086 new cases and 323 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, in a cumulative total of more than 200,000 cases and 27,000 deaths.

Since the pandemic began in the country in February, 203,591 people have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, of which 27,682 have died, according to Civil Protection figures published in the regular daily press conference.

From Tuesday to today, 2,086 new cases were registered, significantly below the figures of the previous 24 hours (2,100) and consolidating the downward trend.

In the same period, 323 people died, also less than in the previous 24 hours (382), and 2,311 were considered cured (2,317 from Monday to Tuesday).

In total, since the start of the pandemic, 71,252 people have been considered cured.

Currently, there are 104,657 people with a positive diagnosis (548 fewer than Tuesday), 19,210 of whom are hospitalized, 1,795 of whom are in intensive care.

A third of intensive care patients are in Lombardy (north), the worst affected region in Italy.

Appearing in December in China, the new coronavirus has infected more than 3.1 million people worldwide, of which more than 217,000 have died.

Europe is the most affected region, with 1.4 million cases and more than 129,000 deaths.

Italy is the European country with the most deaths (27,672) and Spain the one with the most cases (212,917).
