Pierre Cardin, known for his fashion creations, died this Tuesday, December 29 at the age of 98 in the American hospital in Neuilly, in the Paris region.

The news is advanced by the French news agency AFP, based on information provided by the family.

Pierre was born with the name of Pietro, in the city of Venice, Italy, but moved to France, Saint-Etienne, when he was only two years old, a country where he became a native. He became a world-renowned businessman, launching, in the post-world war, the concept of ‘ready-to-wear’ clothing, accessible for various handbags.

His career began in Paris, working for the brands Paquin and Shiaparelli, and it was in this city that he also designed the costumes for the film “Beauty and the Beast” in 1945, read on the designer’s website. A year later he was hired by Christian Dior as a tailor, but, in 1950, he returned to the dressing room: he opened his own brand and began working mainly for theaters.

In 1954 her “bubble” dresses became world famous and she opened her first boutique in Paris, and ten years later she made her debut in the famous Printemps department store in the same city. From then on, he grew up: he launched his perfume brand and was the first designer to appear on the cover of Time magazine, when he was 52 years old.
