A pilot and a flight attendant from the Chinese company Donghai Airlines were suspended after being involved in a beating scene mid-flight, which ended with the pilot missing a tooth and the flight attendant with a broken arm.
According to the South China Morning Post, it all started on flight DZ6297, on February 20, during a trip between Nantong and Xi’an. The pilot was in the bathroom when he was ‘interrupted’ by a passenger, who also wanted to use the bathroom. The pilot ordered the passenger to return to the scene, which will have been ignored.
When he came out of the bathroom and saw the passenger out of place, he allegedly questioned the flight attendant, criticizing him for “not doing his job well and endangering the safety of the aircraft.” The discussion quickly turned into an exchange of aggressions.
After publications about the episode of going viral on social networks, the airline confirmed the exchange of attacks and clarified, in a statement, that the two involved were suspended from their duties. “The company analyzed with great importance the disagreement between crew members during a flight and carried out a rigorous internal investigation. Those involved were immediately suspended from their duties in the name of safety on board our flights,” guarantees Donghai Airlines.
