The Portuguese pilot speaks of “difficult race”.

Miguel Oliveira (KTM) lost a position in the MotoGP World Championship this Sunday after finishing the San Marino Grand Prix, the sixth race of the season, in 11th position.

The Portuguese, who started from 12th on the starting grid, lost three positions at the start, but managed to recover until 11th, finishing 12.376 seconds behind the winner, the Italian-Brazilian Franco Morbidelli (Yamaha), who won the first victory of his career.

He was the fourth rider to make his debut this year, after the French Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), the South African Brad Binder (KTM) and the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira (KTM), winner of the previous test, in Austria.

Since the year the world speed championship began in 1949, the same phenomenon has not occurred.

Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Spaniard Joan Mir (Suzuki), who beat Italian Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) on the last lap, closed the podium.

For Miguel Oliveira, this was “a difficult race”.

“It was difficult to gain positions, especially at the beginning of the race,” explained the Almada rider.

Oliveira also added that due to “the different tire options”, the life of the drivers “became difficult.”

“However, we had a good pace,” he said.

Miguel Oliveira is already focused on the test that will take place next Tuesday.

“We are going to try some things to have a better weekend and, above all, a better qualifying,” concluded the Portuguese rider.

The race this Sunday was also marked by the fall of the French Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), former leader of the championship, who was overtaken by the Italian Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati), who was only seventh in the points table.

Dovizioso now has 76 points while Miguel Oliveira dropped from ninth to tenth, with 48 points.

The next race will take place next weekend, on the same track as Misano, but at the Rimini Riviera GP.
