A residential development in Guimarães was awarded in “The International Architecture Awards”, in the Museum of Architecture of Chicago, United States.

Two other works of Portuguese architecture were awarded: a dog hotel in Vila do Conde and a medical center in Santa Maria da Feira.

These three Portuguese projects, recognized in the category of hotels, housing and sanitary equipment, respectively, are part of the more than 125 new buildings and urban studies from around the world recognized in the 15th edition of the international architecture awards, says page of organization.

The seven awarded houses, named BOX XL Houses, in Guimarães, by the Zegnea Group, were completed last year.

The Box XL Houses project is a project of seven houses arranged in a different way that, in 2019, was recognized with an honorable mention in the “Master of Architecture Award”, read on its official website.

Completed in 2019, the canine and feline hotel in Vila do Conde, Porto district, is designed by the architect Raulino Silva.

The building was built from scratch for the temporary accommodation of dogs and cats, and the construction sought “to find the right conditions for the animals, whether in accommodation, recreation, shearing, bathing and going to the veterinarian,” explained the office . from the architect, in a statement.

“In recent months, the work has won several international awards and distinctions, having been a finalist in the ‘The Plan Awards’ and the ‘Dezeen Awards’, of the respective architecture magazines,” he stressed.

In the note, Raulino Silva said that he had already won awards in Paris, Los Angeles and New York.

The Nefrodouro Hemodialysis Clinic, in Santa Maria da Feira, Aveiro district, signed by Ventura + Partners, has a parallelepiped shape developed on two floors, one of which is semi-buried, according to the page of this architecture studio.

“The aim of the project was to create a hemodialysis clinic that would make the process as simple and comfortable as possible for users, in a space markedly different from conventional urban clinics,” he explained.

In the building, he adds, harmony and serenity are promoted, with white being the predominant color and the windows allowing the patients to contact nature.

This is the second time that a project signed by Ventura + Partners has been distinguished in the “International Architecture Awards”, after the award obtained in 2011 with the São Félix Marinha residential project, in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto district.

The International Architecture Awards honor, year after year, the best design and architecture projects from around the world, and this year’s winners are selected by a Greek jury made up of architects, critics and academics.
