As of this Tuesday, the Tax and Customs Authority (TA), or commonly called Tax Authorities, already has an official page on the social network Facebook.

On the page, publications will be made to support taxpayers with respect to their tax obligations, as well as information and alerts on tax and customs terms.

You can now follow the official Finance page on Facebook

Starting today there is a new Facebook page that you will want to follow. This is the official page of the Tax and Customs Authority (TA), also known as Finance or Tax Authorities.

The page has the address https://www.facebook.com/AT.financas and you can add a 'like' to start following all the news. Through this page, the Tax and Customs Authority will carry out various publications to support taxpayers regarding their tax obligations. It will also be a place where taxpayers can be alerted to tax and customs deadlines.

Since social networks allow a greater proximity between services and people, the official website of the Tax Authorities on Facebook aims to be a simpler and faster way to help taxpayers, especially in the processes and deadlines.

In this way, it is also possible to promote greater awareness of the role of the Tax and Customs Authority in our country.

According to Lusa, through a message from the Deputy Director General of the Taxpayer Relations area to workers, Nuno Félix says that COVID-19 forced a redesign of the way to assist taxpayers. And the unpredictable evolution of the pandemic reinforces the idea of exploring new communication channels to inform the public about tax issues.

AT's Facebook will be what, together, the institution, its employees and contributors make of it. Our commitment is clear: to use this new channel to publish content that supports compliance with tax and customs obligations, alert taxpayers of compliance with deadlines and promote greater awareness of society in general about the role of TA.

The pandemic forced new rules in AT programming

This year, the pandemic forced the creation of pre-scheduling rules for face-to-face care in AT. So far, more than two million of these calls have been made. On the other hand, about 1.5 million calls were answered and more than 600,000 inquiries from taxpayers were answered through the electronic meter of the Finance Portal.

Thus, Finance sees its wide presence in social networks, since the entity already has an official page in Twitter. Tax and customs information is also published on this platform, such as payment dates or compliance with declarative obligations or legal diplomas.

With communication channels focused mainly on the digital world, it is important that the services most needed by the population are also present on the internet, either through a platform, a website, a mobile application or even a page on a social network.
