Miguel Oliveira finishes points for the first time in the MotoGP season

Miguel Oliveira (KTM) finished this Sunday in 16th place in the MotoGP Aragón Spanish Grand Prix, won by the Spanish Alex Rins (Suzuki), the first time a race has finished this season.

The KTM rider finished the World Motorcycling Speed Championship 18.284 seconds behind Alex Rins, who beat Spaniards Alex Márquez (Honda) and Joan Mir (Suzuki), the new leader of the drivers’ championship.

Miguel Oliveira started from 18th and was even 15th, but as the laps progressed, the difficulties in maintaining traction on the rear tire were decisive.

“It was a very difficult race. I felt more competitive in the first half, until I felt like I” didn’t have “a rear tire, especially on the left side. Throughout the weekend we have been suffering from this situation and, for the race, we couldn’t find a solution. That left us with no option to fight for competitive positions, “explained the Almada rider.

The World Cup continues in a week, on the same circuit in Aragon, where today’s race was held and, therefore, Miguel Oliveira promised to “analyze” the data to find a solution.

“We have time to summarize all the information and try to understand what to do with the bike to help me fight for positions that are what I think I can give to the team,” he concluded.

The race was won by Alex Rins, who thus became the eighth different winner this season.

“At the start of the race I was too calm and I thought it was wrong. But it went well. This victory has a great significance, after the injuries and all the difficulties of this season,” said Rins, who beat Alex Márquez by 263 thousandths and to teammate Joan Mir for 2,644 seconds.

Mir is the new leader of the World Championship, with 121 points, six more than the previous commander, Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), who left pole position, but finished only in 18th position, with no points. .

Miguel Oliveira also lost a place in the championship, precisely to Rins, falling to tenth place, with 69 points.

The next race will be the Teruel Grand Prix at the Aragon circuit next Sunday.
