Portland’s top newspaper reported Tuesday that after weeks of unrest in the city center, the ‘main action’ seems to be shifting to neighborhoods just outside the city, prompting residents to post their concerns on various internet forums.
The Oregonian reported that protests in the city are approaching their 80th consecutive night and residents are taking to online platforms like Reddit to post their growing concerns about safety.
BLACK PORTLAND POLICE SERGEANT TO WHOM ‘CONFIRM THE POLICE’ IS HIM
One poster who apparently lives near Kenton wrote, “A lot of people worked hard to make our little neighborhood comfortable and help local businesses stay open. Now it’s trash. This was not a BLM [Black Lives Matter] protest, this was a tantrum by a bunch of straight kids. ”

Reports indicate that there is some blame directed at police officers for the essentials of the Protestants on Saturday night.
Michael Morrill, a longtime resident of Kenton, told KGW 8, “What I saw last night was violence; these people did nothing about property. To speak. Work out your issues, and vote. If you do not like what’s happening, then vote, vote for change, that’s democracy. ”
The paper reported that a resident who lives near the police union building said his family is worried about the protests and is being forced to close his windows at night to hold out tears. The report said the shift “brings crowds of protesters and a heavy police force to normally quiet night streets.”
Narrators of the violent protests sparked by the death of George Floyd in police words in Minneapolis have warned that what first appears in the heart of major cities will eventually spill over into residential neighborhoods.
Some residents in the neighborhood have expressed support for the movement despite the disruption. Neighbors regularly help protesters as police chase small groups through the residential streets of Portlands, Getty reported.
The scene in Portland still seems to be tense. A fire at the Portland Police Association on Saturday prompted city officials to declare a call and force protesters away from offices as violent demonstrations continue in the city hoping for peace after federal agents withdrew more than a week ago.
Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck from a nearby park. The Portland Police Association is a trade union that represents members of the Portland Police Bureau.
The clashes escalated tensions after an agreement between state and federal officials appeared to offer a brief delay.
President Trump on Monday asked Portland to bring in “the National Guard”, after months of unrest, to call the city “out of control”, and to warn local officials that they will be “held accountable.”
“Portland, which is out of control, should finally bring in the National Guard after nearly 3 months,” Trump tweeted Monday. “The mayor and the governor are endangering the lives of people. They will be held accountable.”
