Pop Smoke’s posthumous new album for the stars released Moon Target released

Pop Smoke’s new posthumous album Shoot the stars Aim for the moon has been released. It comes almost five months after the rapper’s death at age 20 in an invasion of his home in Los Angeles. The record features appearances by Quavo, 50 Cent, DaBaby, Future, Lil Baby, Swae Lee, Tyga, Karol G, Lil Tjay, and more. It also has a different album cover than Virgil Abloh’s art revealed earlier this week. It was designed by Ryder Ripps.

Steven Victor, head of the Victor Victor record label and close associate of the late rapper, has overseen the album’s release. After directing the video “Shake the Room” with Pop Smoke and Quavo in Paris, Virgil Abloh was originally selected to design the album cover. Public reaction to Virgil’s cover prompted the Pop Smoke Estate to search for the updated artwork below.

Pop Smoke’s final release before his death was the February mixtape Meet Woo 2. Re-visit Pitchfork’s feature “Remembering Pop Smoke, Brooklyn Rap’s key figure left too soon.”
