Police have arrested a black man who was stopped while jogging while searching for a domestic violence suspect.

A video of the incident posted on social media shows officers shouting at police to shake the vehicle.

The identity of the man arrested in the police report was found as Math 33-year-old Matthias Ometu was walking out of an apartment complex when officers arrived in response to a call about a domestic violence attack, a police report of the incident said.

Authorities detained Ometu and told him they had “reasonable suspicions” that it “matched the description of the domestic violence incident of the cow slaughter,” the report said.

The police report said Ometu refused to give his name and date of birth after several requests and that his “behavior became aggressive.” The report said Ometu refused to board the patrol vehicle and was put in the patrol vehicle “after a long struggle.”

Ometu kicked two officers during the incident, striking one in the face, the police report said.

Officials who met with the victim of the domestic violence incident met and said Ometu was not a suspect, but Ometu would still not give his information to authorities, the report said.

A statement from the San Antonio Police Department said he was arrested and charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer.

Bystanders film the event

Jenny Rodriguez and Victor Mass, who witnessed the arrest and filmed the interaction between Ometu and police, told CNN by phone on Friday that Ometu does not appear to be aggressive or confrontational to officers.

His video shows that about two minutes before the two officers begin to push Ometu into the vehicle, it appears that Met Bhela Ometu is handcuffed. One witness noted in the video that at least one officer was also black.

The video shows officers struggling with Ometu to push back the police personnel and he is heard shouting, “You’re suffocating me!” Often the conflict lasts for a minute.

Officers were closing the door of the vehicle with Ometu from inside, at least three more police vehicles arriving, it appears in the video.

Rodriguez said she was walking with her dog when she saw the man in a jog around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Suddenly the police came and started walking towards the man and talking to him, she said. About 10-15 minutes after the conversation started, Rodriguez said, they started handcuffing him.

She said she knocked on the window of her boyfriend and co-worker’s office fee to pick up the phone to start shooting. Her boyfriend, Victor Mass, also started shooting.

His video shows police officers trying to get the man into the vehicle. He appears to be resisting police officers.

Massey said officers used a teaser on the man, although he was not seen during the video.

According to Mass and Rodriguez, the whole incident lasted about an hour, but the video only involved 20 minutes of interaction.

Police are still investigating

Bemesar County District Attorney J. Gonzalez said in a statement emailed to CNN on Friday that Ometu had posted bonds on the allegations and was awaiting the completion of his investigation into the enforcement of the Bexar County District Attorney’s Fees Act.

Once the investigation is complete, the district attorney’s office will “review all the evidence and decide how to proceed with a potential criminal case.”

Tess House, an attorney who has been in contact with Ometu’s family but has not yet formally represented her, was unable to comment on her behalf when she reached out to CNN by phone on Friday. However, he told CNN that Ometu has been released from prison, but his phone is still in police custody.

CNN could not reach Ometu or family members for comment.
