Pokemon goJuly Community Day will focus on Gastly and will take place on July 19 from 11 am to 5 pm in your local time.
Gastly won second place in a vote, losing to Weedle, who had his Community Day in June. Gastly and her evolution had previously appeared days before, though never on Community Day. Its shiny form has already been released, but this is a good opportunity for players who missed previous events to catch one for their collections.
Evolving Gastly to his final form, Gengar, will give him the exclusive Shadow Punch move, which can make him a good contender in PvP. The hatching distance will also be reduced to a quarter of the usual amount, and the incense used during the event period will last three hours.
With the announcement of Mega Evolution coming to Pokemon go Soon, the need for Gastly and Gengar has increased. While it is unknown if we will be able to evolve mega from our current Pokémon or if we will have to catch special forms of Mega Evolved, it won’t hurt to take a pair of strong Gastly beforehand. The Mega Gengar Brilliant form is objectively much colder than the rest of the Phantom-type Brilliant forms, as it goes from deep purple to deep white.
