PlayStation Kiosks ‘Not related to PS5’ – IGN

A PlayStation spokesperson told IGN that the image of what appears to be a PlayStation-themed retail kiosk is unrelated to PS5. Today, an image of what appears to be a PlayStation-themed kiosk began circulating on social media. The photo showed a white and blue commercial area with a sofa, table, and stand for what appears to be a TV screen. The photo was taken at an unnamed UK retail store by @IronCoreGame.Posted by @IronCoreGame

IGN contacted Sony to ask about the photo, and a PlayStation spokesperson replied that the kiosk “is not related to PS5.” Sony did not explain what the kiosks could be for.

The image revived speculation that Sony may be preparing to put the PS5 in pre-order. Although the company said customers will be given enough notice before pre-orders increase.

Another online concern about the photo was whether that kiosk is a good idea. Several countries are issuing guidelines for social distancing, which include limits to establish contact with public surfaces. A demo station would be counter-intuitive to such guidelines.

PlayStation 5 confirmed games

Sony has yet to announce details on PS5 preorders, though source code indicates Sony may once again institute a household rule on orders. The same was implemented for PS4 preorders to try to avoid shortages.

See the IGN PS5 Guide for more information on the PS5, DualSense controller, specs, and more.
