Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5, w / 4000 mAh battery, leak in picture

Google officially unveiled the Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 with the launch of the Pixel 4a earlier this month. Following leaks earlier this week, a live image of the phone emerged, along with a claimed list of specs.

At the beginning of August, Google will only offer a side profile of the two upcoming phones that complete their 2020 lineup. A Redditor posted a photo of the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 this evening.

Appeared on the side, the Pixel 5 on the left is slightly smaller and has a highly textured – presumably metal – back. (The leaker disputes that, claiming it’s a ‘plastic back’ below.) We also see a square camera bump that is almost identical to the Pixel 4, but the flash is now at the top. We also see the fingerprint sensor.

The Reddit user shares a screenshot of “Battery Information” showing a 4000 mAh battery. Meanwhile, the same source provided the following list of specs:

  • 4000mAh battery
  • 0.5x wide lens, 1x standard lens (same lens as Pixel 4)
  • 12.2 MP back
  • 8mp forward
  • Snapdragon 765G
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 60hz / 90hz screen
  • Plastic back with fingerprint
  • No audio jack

That deepening, the Snapdragon 765G has been rumored for months, while 8GB of RAM is an unexpected but welcome increase. The wide-angle lens is a departure from last year’s telephoto. Lastly, the lack of an audio jack is not surprising for a “premium” phone.

To the right is the larger Pixel 4a (5G) in white, a color scheme not available on the Pixel 4a. It has an identical camera bump. Specs:

  • 3800mAh battery
  • 0.5x wide lens, 1x standard lens (same lens as Pixel 4)
  • 12.2 MP back
  • 8mp forward
  • Snapdragon 765G
  • 6gb RAM
  • 60Hz-only screen
  • Plastic back with fingerprint
  • Greased audio jack

This phone will start at $ 499 – $ 150 premium above Pixel 4a – and reportedly reports a larger 3,800 mAh battery (vs. 3140). The screen is larger and only 60Hz, but there is a processor upgrade to get 5G support. RAM has not changed while this phone removes an extra lens.
