Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour returns with “Yes, I Have Ghosts”, his first new song in five years.
It is a smooth and acoustic number with string trims. In it, Gilmour sings: “Yes, I have ghosts, not all of them are dead / Dusting my dreams, going round and round, around my head.”
“Ghosts” is not so much a solo song as a Gilmour family effort. The song accompanies the release of his wife Holly Samson’s audiobook for his coming-of-age novel. A theater for dreamersand introduces her daughter Romany on vocals.
The audiobook format “has a lot of untapped potential,” Gilmour says in a statement, “and I am surprised that more musicians have not collaborated creatively with authors, storytellers, and producers of audiobooks in this way before.” The two worlds seem to link seamlessly, and music can really help bring audiobooks to life in new and unexpected ways. “
