Philadelphia International Airport announces new COVID-19 test site

Philadelphia (WPVI) – Passengers flying outside Philadelphia International Airport can now take the Covid-19 test before departure.

The COVID-19 test site at terminal E departures is for airline passengers only.

Voluntary tests will be given by staff at Jefferson University Hospital. There are three options – PCR, fast PCR and antigen.

“It’s a nasal swab. A little more erratic than a regular nasal swab, but it’s not too uncomfortable. It’s a few seconds,” said Dr. Jefferson, president of Jefferson University and CEO of Jefferson Health. Says Stephen Klask.

Prices range from 70- $ 130. The faster the result, the more expensive the test.

“Theoretically, you’ll be able to take it and get results by the time you land,” Klasco said of the quick test.

“Others will take 48 to 72 hours.”

Passengers who wish to take advantage of this voluntary test will be able to make an appointment and park free of charge in Terminal E to get a coronavirus test.

Some island nations in the Caribbean and Hawaii, for example, need proof of a negative coronavirus test result.

“People have this second choice if they want to travel,” says Chile Cameron, CEO of Aviation’s Philadelphia division. “

Local health departments and the CDC will take action if the result is positive.

“They will be informed of Jefferson’s results and then they can take appropriate action to put someone on the no-boarding list,” Cameron said.

The airport coronavirus testing site is open seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
