Philadelphia Flyers and Vegas Golden Knights close number one seed in East and West

After a wild elimination Friday that saw five teams axled from the loffs, the NHL had a quiet Saturday with just two games. However, both of the matchups were important as they decided to be the number one seed in the Eastern and Western Conferences.

The Philadelphia Flyers will be the number one seed in the East, jumping from fourth to first during game play. The Flyers won all three games they played, and victories over Boston, Washington, and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Meanwhile, the Vegas Golden Knights will head West after scoring 15 overall goals in their three games of the round robin.

The Flyers defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 to complete their sweep of the East. The Flyers scored two goals from Nicolas Aube-Kubel and another from Joel Farabee. Tyler Pitlick added a low-net to seal the deal.

The Lightning will be the second seed in the East, while the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals will fight Sunday for the third and fourth seed.

The Golden Knights defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 in overtime to Alex Tuch (yes, dat Alex Tuch) scored in the extra frame.

The Avalanche will be the second seed in the West, while the Blues and Stars will fight for third and fourth. The Golden Knights will look to return to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since losing to the Capitals in 2018.
