Phil Mickelson never competed at PGA but appears in CBS booth

SAN FRANCISCO – Phil Mickelson was never really controversial at the 102nd PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park, doubling the final hole on his way to a final 73.

But his long turn in the CBS broadcast after the third round, in which Mickelson jabbed Faldo for his lack of distance, and Faldo jabbed back for having more majors, got people talking.

“I think for someone like me that’s never been done, by a guy like Jim Nantz putting things up and kind of scene to talk about made it easy,” Mickelson said. ‘Because it’s not like I’m prepared for anything. … And then of course to have a wonderful goal like Nick, that made it fun too. ”

Within minutes of sitting down, Mickelson compared Faldo’s strenuous physique to that of Bryson DeChambeau (wait), but although DeChambeau is exceptionally long from the tee, Faldo was a banter. When Faldo protested that he was accurate and Lefty could come back and be the same, Mickelson said he was not sure he would want to play golf that way.
